Prayer: Deepening

prayer-01
  • Commit to praying the Daily Office as your corporate daily prayer.

    • Our ancestors in faith, early Christians, continued the Jewish practice of reciting prayers at certain hours of the day and night, and this practice has become what is known in various Christian traditions as the Liturgy of the Hours, Divine Office, the canonical hours, or the Daily Office. Here are some suggested online resources for beginning to pray the Daily Office.
      • MethodistPrayer.org is a great resource for daily prayers that uses prayers (and hymns) from our Methodist tradition.
      • Mission St. Clare is another online resource that offers the Daily Office from the Book of Common Prayer, a resource our Methodist Founder, John Wesley would have used.
      • You may also want to ask a pastor about other ways of praying the office, and which resources might be better than others.
  • Add personal prayer to total one hour a day in prayer.

  • Attend a spiritual life retreat at least once every 2 years.
