Hot Water Can Scald Electric or Gas Bills

Set the temperature on your hot water heater to 120 degrees.  Most are automatically set to 140 degrees when installed.  And to save even more money, wrap your hot water heater in an insulation blanket—it will prevent heat loss (so your hot water stays hotter longer and you use less energy heating water).  And finally, you can set a timer on your hot water heat, have all the hot water you want when you want it yet effectively have it shut off (and not heating water) for 18 out of 24 hours a day—a tremendous savings!
