The addition of a new member of the family is an exciting time but it is also a time filled with lots of transitions and changes as parents adjust to new routines and roles. At St. Stephen’s, we help parents get off to a great start through our professionally staffed nursery, which is offered during all worship services and during many of our mid-week events so that young families can actively participate in all aspects of congregational life. For those families that are ready to take the next step, baptism is also offered by contacting the Senior Pastor, pastormark[at]ststephensfairfax.org
Rites of Passage:
Baptism: The sacrament of Holy Baptism is the primary rite of initiation into the life of the church for United Methodists. At baptism, God claims the life of a person and an eternal covenant is made. Parents, on behalf of their child, make vows of faith in Christ, and promise to raise the child to follow Christ in the church. The church likewise makes vows to care for and watch over the child as a member of the church, the Body of Christ. Baptism is available from infancy.
Nursery: In our nursery, which is offered on Sunday mornings during all three services and throughout the week at various times, we recognize how precious infants and toddlers truly are. It is our priority to provide a safe, secure, and loving environment for your child to grow in. With great joy we hope to introduce each child to God’s love simply by how we lovingly care for them. Rest assured, our nursery is staffed by experienced and professional child care workers who have cleared a thorough background check.
