Rev. Jeffrey P. Mickle, Senior PastorThe Rev. Jeff Mickle

Pastor Jeff Mickle is an elder in the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church. He has served St. Stephen's since June 2007, having served previously in Shenandoah, Alexandria, Virginia Beach, and Richmond. He is married to the Rev. Deborah Austin, who is also a United Methodist elder and serves as pastor at Immanuel UMC in Annandale. Pastor Jeff and Deborah have two sons: Jon, who lives in Atlanta; and Ben, who lives in Seattle.

Pastor Jeff is a graduate of the Divinity School at Duke University (M. Div. and Th.M.) and the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown (B.A, History). He has a passion for seeing the Good News of Jesus come alive in the lives of people, awakening the discovery of new beginnings and renewed purpose. He has led churches in ministries of racial reconciliation and community engagement with the poor. He enjoys teaching the Bible and helping people go deeper in their journey with the Lord.

melissa_porter-millerRev. Melissa Porter-Miller, Associate Pastor

Pastor Melissa Porter-Miller is an elder in the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church. She has served St. Stephen's since July 2007. Pastor Melissa served for five years as a young adult mission with the General Board of Global Ministries, serving in Tucson, Philadelphia, Ireland, and Baltimore (US-2 Program, Mission Intern Program). Her husband Robert Miller is a native of Northern Ireland. They have one son, Micah Shea, who is two years old.


Pastor Melissa is a graduate of Wesley Theological Seminary (M. Div, Urban Ministry Program) and The College of William & Mary (B.A, Government & Psychology). She has a passion for mission, evangelism, and for meeting people where they are at and helping to take the next faithful steps in the walk with God.

roger bakerRev. Roger Baker, Associate Pastor for Internet Ministries

Pastor Roger Baker is an elder on loan from the Southwest Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church. He has served St. Stephen's as a pastor since July 2011. Pastor Roger served for three years as a circuit preacher in England while completing his seminary education at the University of Cambridge. He had pastored churches in Alabama and Texas. His wife serves on active duty in the Air Force medical Service Corps. They have two sons, Michael and Matthew, who attend a local elementary school.


Pastor Roger is an alumus of the University of Cambridge (CTM, Wesley House),  Webster University (MA, Computer Resource Management), and Excelsior College (B.S, Computer Software). Roger is involved in using new technologies to make disciples for Jesus Christ as one of the few United Methodist pastors whose primary ministry focus is Internet ministry. As a multiple sclerosis patient, Roger is also deeply involved in social justice issues involving the disabled.
