This e-mail circle is for women of our church who, for whatever reason, cannot participate in a monthly circle meeting, but would like to be informed about current UMW activities, present concerns, and information on UMW and St. Stephen’s in general. This month’s book is entitled: On Pluto: Inside the Mind of Alzheimer’s, by Greg O’Brien. The author is an investigative reporter who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. He details how he has struggled as a result of Alzheimer’s, from a financial, social, and mental standpoint. He travels the world, always with a companion, to speak out about the disease, and he is open about how difficult it is for him to travel. The last four chapters of the book are written by his wife, 2 sons and daughter. This is listed on the recommended reading list.
The UMW Board does not meet in August. Our next meeting will be on Monday, September 24 in C40 at 9:30 am. All are welcome to attend.
Relief-supply kits help provide care for the most vulnerable people during times of crisis. UMCOR collects 6 types of kits for global distribution and cleaning buckets for U.S. distribution after storms. Kits help sustain everyday life for people who lack ready access to essential supplies. They provide vital support for UMCOR’s global development work and make a tangible difference in people’s lives. This year, St. Stephen’s UMW sent 49 school kits and 45 health kits to UMCOR along with $154.00 to cover shipping and toothpaste. Thanks to all of you who worked so hard helping those in need.
The updated UMW Brochure (in purple) is now on the UMW Bulletin Board and in the Gathering Place. Please share with anyone who might want to know more about our UMW circles and other activities.
