The title of our new worship series, “Melt Us, Mold Us, Fill Us, Use Us,” which begins Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021, is derived from the chorus of the hymn, Spirit of the Living God, by Daniel Iverson, which is No. 393 in the United Methodist hymnal.

Spirit of the living God,
Fall afresh on me.
Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me.
Spirit of the living God,
Fall afresh on me.

The hymn speaks of God seeking to draw God’s children into a more intimate relationship through the “Spirit of the living God.” But it also speaks of the importance of God’s children, of all ages, opening themselves to the sanctifying work of God in their lives as God perfects us in God’s grace.

“Melt Us, Mold Us, Fill Us, Use Us” is our humble invitation for God to come again and again into our lives to transform us more and more into the image of Jesus, both as individuals and as a community of faith. God’s sanctification brings revival and renewal and helps us to see and think and love more and more like Jesus and serve as Jesus’ hands and feet in the world.

“Melt Us, Mold Us, Fill Us, Use Us,” begins January 10th, Baptism of the Lord Sunday and continues on January 17th, Human Relations Sunday and into February. You are invited to begin your preparations for this new series in prayer, asking the Lord to reveal areas of your life and our lives together that need renewal and a new visioning in the Spirit. Come, Holy Spirit, fall afresh on us through this worship series, we pray!
