Rites of Passage:

(FX) Family Experiences
Throughout the year, families are encouraged to share several key faith experiences with their children before the holy seasons of the Christian Year (Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter & Pentecost) and during other off-site events such as the annual family camping trip or retreat.  These family experiences are designed to establish meaningful family traditions that are passed from one generation to the next before tweens are “all grown up” and begin looking to their peers more and more for guidance.

Weekly / Monthly Connect:

Sunday School: classes are offered weekly from 9:45 – 10:45 am for children from preschool through high school (and parents too, see p. 2 for more details) and are a great way for your child to make friends and be challenged to grow in their faith. At St. Stephen’s UMC, we use curriculum developed by Cokesbury Publishers called Deep Blue Each week incorporates Bible stories, hands-on activities, crafts, media, and games into a full faith experience for children. Our goal is to help children grow their faith by leaps and bounds and is based on our theme verse from 2 Thessalonians 1:3, “Your faithfulness is growing by leaps and bounds, and the love that all of you have for each other is increasing.” (CEB) Classes are team taught with two adults per class. Mustard Seed Ministry:
This group helps children build their confidence as they explore the basics of chorale singing – good vocal production, learning the mechanics of breathing, and harmonizing, as well as learning to read music. Sundays 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.  during the school year. 3rd – 8th Grades. MORE

Mission Possible Kids:

This ministry meets during the school year on the second Friday of the month from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and is designed to engage tween kids (3rd – 6th graders) in hands-on mission projects that will change the world for the better and cultivate a lasting faith in Christ.  Dinner is always served and friends are always welcome!  Periodically, the group meets off-site depending on the focus for the month.
