“Homesick” is the title of Pastor Jiyeon’s message, Sunday, November 28, 2021, the first in the  “Close to Home” worship Series  Scripture readings : 1 Thessalonians 3:9-13 NRSV; Luke 21:37-38 NRSV. You can read the week’s scriptures below.

How do you respond to these questions, “Where is your home?”  “How does your home look alike?

For some people, a home is a place full of love, overflowing joy, and never-ending laughter.  For some people, a home is a place of tears, pain, and wounds.  From a theological perspective, where is our home that we long to enter or return?  Mary and Joseph were away from their home when their holy child was born.  Jesus left his heavenly home and came to the world to be an ultimate sacrifice for our salvation.  How should we live as God’s people while expecting our heavenly home and waiting for God’s time calling us to the home?  Jesus went to the temple and taught people every morning.  He went to Mt. Olivet every night to lodge (being home, being with God).  He went to the world and returned home every day and eventually.  Where do we find our true earthly home?  Where do we rest?  Our physical home?  Church building?  Church community?  Let’s find our home together!

1 Thessalonians 3:9-13,NRSV

How can we thank God enough for you in return for all the joy that we feel before our God because of you? 10 Night and day we pray most earnestly that we may see you face to face and restore whatever is lacking in your faith.

11 Now may our God and Father himself and our Lord Jesus direct our way to you. 12 And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, just as we abound in love for you. 13 And may he so strengthen your hearts in holiness that you may be blameless before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.

Luke 21:37-38, NRSV
